Currently, at the level of advanced and developing countries, a lot of attention is paid to new methods such as horizontal directional drilling (H.D.D), tunneling and micro tunneling to pass under obstacles, rivers, canal digging. huge water and sewage crossings, digging huge tunnels for vehicle passage and creating access roads between islands and main areas from under the seas and oceans, optical fiber transmission, electricity transmission and hundreds of other applications.

The first horizontal directional drilling was used in 1971 to pass a gas pipeline under a river with a width of 550 meters in America, and then in 1986 in Germany, the H.D.D method was used to pass an electric channel and urban pipeline, and in the following With the increasing progress of passing techniques and the completion of peripheral equipment to help increase and improve the power of the drilling machine, this method has reached its peak of evolution, so that now in America and Europe, a large percentage of the projects of passing underground electric and optical fiber cables and water branches , gas and oil and oil derivatives due to the undeniable advantages of this method, such as extreme accuracy, speed of work, economic efficiency, removal of disturbing parameters in urban environments and extraordinary environmental advantages, is done in this way, and every Every year, the number of HDD projects carried out in developed countries is increasing.
The first H.D.D project carried out in our country in 2013 was carried out by SAT company in the form of gas transmission line project “24”, which included two cases of passing the gas pipeline under the Gargar and Shatita rivers in the northern region of Ahvaz.
