The horizontal directional drilling machine, or HDD, owned by Sat Engineering Co., is one of the most advanced and powerful drilling machines in the world. The machine, model HK250T, was purchased from Herrenknecht, a German company, and has been used in various HDD projects for pipeline crossings under rivers throughout the country.
The HDD machine is equipped with various accessories, including different sized drill bits, reamers, and fly cutters, as well as a slurry preparation and pumping system.
The machine is capable of drilling up to 2,900 meters for steel pipes with a diameter of 4 inches, and up to 1,200 meters for larger diameter pipes of up to 56 inches. The machine’s performance limitations depend on various factors, such as required pulling force, pressure, and torque, as well as the geological conditions of the ground.
The HDD drilling route is designed to follow a curved path, with the allowable curve called the “CURVE” determined by engineering calculations based on parameters such as the length of the drilling route, the material and thickness of the pipe, and the maximum bending, pressure, and torque forces it can withstand. The design of the drilling route requires consideration of these parameters in addition to the geological conditions of the ground.
